Sustainable Farming Project (MLDT)

The project commenced by enlisting a group of 25 farmers from the 3 villages of Karsod, Kondgaon and Wilshet within Vikramgad taluka, Thane district, Maharashtra. Through awareness meetings and interactions the approach of organic farming, multi cropping, integration with livestock etc were shared and a broad understanding was evolved. The scope during first 6 months was defined to cover four broad areas:
A. Capacity building
B. Organic paddy cultivation adapting the methodology of system of Rice intensification (SRI)
C. Organic vegetable cultivation with focus on seasonal vegetables
D. Tree plantation
