Project title:Sustainable farming with a group of resource deprived tribal farmers

Summary:1. To build capacity in farmers in areas of sustainable farming through off and on farm sessions, exposure tours, visits of innovative farmers, farmer field schools, etc 2. To pilot successful transition of farmers from chemical based high cost inputs agriculture to organic farming relying on locally available inputs 3. To create models of small plot diversified farming systems cereals, pulses, millets, vegetables, fruits, multi purpose trees, floriculture and integrate with livestock to serve needs of the family, enhance soil fertility, and help generate cash income to meet livelihood needs 4. To evolve cultivation practices suitable to the agro climatic conditions in the area for soil as well as yield improvement with special focus on paddy and select vegetable crops 5. To explore avenues for value added processing of farm produce to result in higher returns for farmers
